Description
The Gizmo Dorks Nylon filament is a strong durable material that is not as brittle as ABS or PLA. Nylons are classified in the family of polyamides, which is a polymer consisting of amides joined together by peptide bonds. For Fused Deposition Modeling, FDM, Nylon is a great material to use for 3D printers. The strength of the filament is remarkable, especially when using a higher fill setting. Nylon prints are generally very wear resistant, and they are incredibly flexible as well. Many users prefer Nylon when printing engineered parts such as gears. However, Nylon does have a considerable amount of warping when compared to ABS or PLA. Pyrolysis occurs around 350�C.
Nylon prints will stick to blue painter’s tape. Because Nylon adheres to cellulose surfaces poplar wood can be used as a bed. Nylon will also adhere to cardboard. Nylon also sticks extremely well to machinable garolite, but that may be hard to come by. Users have also said that using a glue stick on a glass bed works well. PVA glues (think of Elmer’s white glue all) can also be diluted and applied on with a sponge head. Please use in a well ventilated area or in a closed ventilated system.

Description
Polyoxymethylene (POM) filament is also known as Acetal or Polyacetal. It is a commonly used thermoplastic to engineer specific parts. Acetal filament has high stiffness, low friction, and excellent wear resistance. It has good elastic resilience and great dimensional stability. Because of it’s low friction, POM is routinely used as gear wheels, ball bearings, etc.
Extrusion Settings – The recommended print temperature is between 210 C – 225 C. Please note that acetal degrades when overheated and may give off small amounts of formaldehyde gas. Do not keep acetal heated above 230 C. Therefore, please always use in a well ventilated area or in a ventilation system.
Print Bed – The hardest part to printing acetal filament is getting the first layer to adhere. POM filament does not typically adhere to conventional 3D print bed surfaces. Some users have found success with blue painters tape with hairspray on top (different blue tapes and hairspray brands have different results). However, POM filament prefers wood or cellulose based platforms. Thicker weight paper such as resume paper or sketch paper can be glued to borosilicate glass with Elmer’s glue stick. A heated bed should be used to at least 100 – 110 C.
Special Note – POM filament warps a lot. An enclosed chamber should be used to retain heat for better layer adhesion and reduce delamination issues. Please keep acetal away from moisture and always keep filament in an airtight container with a desiccant.

Why can’t the filaments stick to the build bed?
1. Check the temperature setting before printing, PETG filaments have higher extrusion temperature than that of PLA;
2. Check if the plate surface has been used for a long time, it is recommended to replace it with our new one to ensure a strong first layer adhesion;
3. If the first layer has poor adhesion, it is recommended to re-level the print substrate to reduce the distance between the nozzle and the surface plate;
4. If the effect is not good, it is recommended to try printing the draft before printing.
