The Processor: I plugged it into my Asus 1080P monitor and it performs just fine (mostly videos). I worried that the Intel 2500 Integrated Graphics couldn’t handle it, but it did just fine. On top of that I plugged in my USB 3.0 to DVI external video card from startech.com into the USB 3.0 port, and it was stable (this method puts a strain on the CPU when going through USB). So I had two monitors coming from this thing, and it did even run warm. The Video feeds struggled a little more than Lenovo Thinkpad T430, but a negligible amount.
The Trackpad: This area leaves some things to be desired. The trackpad is not super sharp, but you get used to it quickly. The Left & Right click are somewhat small, so it is best to get used to tapping the trackpad to left-click.
The Keyboard: Doesn’t depress as much as I would like to. It has a similar feel to the Microsoft Surface depressing keyboards. But you get used to it. The keyboard isn’t cramped at all.
The Touch Screen: Responsive, and precise, just like an ipad. At first, the touch interface would not resume after sleep, I’d tap the screen and nothing would happen. A quick bios driver update from the lenovo website fixed that.
The Battery Life: 2.5 Hour max. Plug this thing in whenever you can, not a huge drawback, I use this for studying in the library, so there’s always an outlet on the table.
Weight: Awesome, you don’t even feel it in the bag.
Tips: -Update all of your drivers, specifically the BIOS -Install “start is back”. It’s the best blend of Windows 7 & 8 -install “keytweak” to remap certain keys on the keyboard to fit your interface. -turn on right the trackpad’s vertical scroll on the right (even though the resolution is standard, you tend to overshoot the scrolling in pages with the two-finger scroll). You can do this by clicking the the “show hidden icons” triangle in the bottom right and selecting “ELAN Pointing Device” (after updating your drivers for the trackpad of course). -while you’re at it, reverse the scrolling if necessary.

This laptop was exactly as described, and it has performed very well over the two weeks that I have tried it out. Things of note: Others have talked about the keyboard being flimsy – I write books for a living, and therefore use the keyboard a lot, and I have no problems with the feel of the keyboard (other than the placement of some of the keys since I am used to a longer full size keyboard (delete key is oddly positioned for me). Windows 8 – I still HATE Windows 8. If I am in the middle of navigating in my manuscript with the cursor pad I will end up sucked back into Windows 8 hell, sometimes, it will screw up my manuscript and add huge spaces that shouldn’t be there when it pulls up the Windows 8 screen on top of my word program. This is not a fault of the laptop, but a problem with Windows 8. Cursor pad – Is a bit resistant for my tastes, but workable assuming pressing down on it wrong doesn’t trigger Windows to pop up over what you’re doing. Also, while playing Minecraft with my kids, when using the cursor pad it will constantly act as though I pushed the escape button and take me to the options menu in the game. I have no choice but to plug in a mouse if I am going to play, because the cursor pad is a headache with games. The WiFi signal could be better as well. For what it is, and what I paid for it, this is not a bad little machine. My biggest complaint is with the software, not the hardware.
Bought this because my iPad has tendency to drop Internet connections. This PC solved that problem, but has a few issues of its own. 1st, the center of the keyboard is not well supported and it does give when you type. 2nd. It is hard to open the top…and the top needs to open more than just 50 degrees…3rd. The touch screen is not as precise as it should be-often I have to use the touch pad and cursor to make a move….4th. I seem to make lots of errors when trying to move the cursor using the touch pad, but it is read as a double tap and initiates a different command. 5th. Battery life IS VERY VERY SHORT. 6th. Windows 8.1 is a mess. For the seasoned every day, all day user it may be great, but for the email, surf, calendar and occasional document writer it is way hard to use and hard to figure out all the user options. I replaced the offic suite with a free office like program that works terrifically. Guess for the money this is ok product….but if tablets didn’t drop the Internet connection (and always on some web sites) I would not make this purchase again….
The Lenovo IdeaPad S210 is a nice little budget machine for people who just want to do the basics like email, browsing, etc.It is also a good stepping stone to Windows 8 because the touchscreen makes learning the touch-centric Windows 8 a little more enjoyable while still giving you the comfort of the familiar keyboard and touch pad.

– Battery life a little weak 1-2 hours – Can’t open lid with one hand.Hinges are too tight.Almost have to pry it open. – Webcam has very mushy images. – Keyboard is unlit.Can’t use in low light. – Touchscreen reaction is great, but comfortable position can’t be found because you are constantly stretching your arm and hand across the keypad.Arm must be held in the air.Not very ergonomic.
So nice little touchscreen Windows 8 machine.Well worth the price.
